Parish events from 2016
24th December 2016 6pm Children’s Mass. The children came dressed as stars, angels and shepherds. After Mass, all the children were given Christmas crackers and chocolates.
18th December 7:30pm was our Annual Carol Service led by Mary Whittle. This was followed by hot punch and mince pies in the Hall. Those who have never experienced our Carol Service, please make it a point to do so next year. We have one of the best Choirs around!
17th December was the setting up of the Nativity Scene. Thank you to Deacon Anthony Clark for overseeing the project and special thanks to parishioners Albert Connick, Cornelius Yap, Maggie Kolecka, Irene Yew and Bernadette for spending hours to get it ready. Baby Jesus will not appear in His crib until His Birth. Offerings taken at the Crib will go to help the work of the Catholic Children’s Society (Crusade of Rescue)
The week of 12th-16th December was a busy time for two of our parishioners who decorated and got the church ready for Christmas. A special ‘Thank You’ to Frances Phillips and Grazyna Yiassoumis for the wonderful work each year and for arranging the weekly flowers in church and for all other events.
For the 3rd running year, we had our Christmas dinner on 5th December 7pm at the Red Lion Pub (Toby’s Carvery) in High Barnet, organised by the Mid Week Group. It was a fun evening.
Our annual Christmas stall was held in our Church’s porch over the weekend of 26/27 November with balance sales including cake sales and raffle draw in the hall on 11th December. Proceeds went to the ‘Aid to the Children in Crisis’ and ‘Crisis at Christmas’
The highlight event of the year was a 2-week Pilgrimage to Rome & Palazzola held Spet 5th-16th 2016 with parishioners from Father Tony’s previous parishes in Stevenage and Hounslow.
Another event was on 9th July 2016 with a Pilgrimage to Walsingham organised by the Diocese of Westminster,
12th June 1:30pm-6:30pm a street party for the Queen’s 90th Birthday was organised with a shared lunch, BBQ, Dance and Children’s Activities. As the weather turned against us, everything had to be moved indoors to the Church hall and grounds.
June 6th at 7:30pm was the 80th Birthday Celebrations for our former retired Priest, Father John Helm. A Mass was held before then.
