SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION. Three people (2 from St. Phillips and 1 from St. Edward) who took their RCIA course at St. Edward were supposed to take their Sacrament of Confirmation during the Easter Vigil. Due to the Covid-19 lockdown, this was not possible and postponed to recently. Confirmation of Gabriel Mares Nosseis Gomide of St. Phillips and Debora Dipapidis of St. Edward took place during the recording of the 6th September 2020 weekend mass. Unfortunately, Miriam Jacqueline Wright was unavailable at the last minute so she will be Confirmed later. Let’s wish them well and have them in our prayers. CHURCH OPENING – FOR PRIVATE PRAYERS ONLY. Our church will reopen ONLY on Sundays for private individual prayers as follows: Sunday 21st June 2020 8:30-1:00pm, from Sunday 28th June 2020 8:00-1:00pm and every Sunday thereafter. There will be NO Mass as this is prohibited. The Diocese together with the Government have set out guidelines for us to follow. The maximum number of people allowed in the church at any time is 25. If the numbers reach 25 and there are people waiting, there will be a time limit of 15 minutes to pray. There will be stewards (volunteers) to guide you on entering. Hand sanitizers and gloves will be provided. We recommend you wear face masks for your own safety. For those with underlying health issues, please follow the rules set out by the Government for your own safety. Please abide by the rules if you want to pray. Thank you and God Bless.

FOODBANK – Many families will be struggling and if you can spare something for the Foodbank we will endeavour to get it there. You might think of bringing and leaving your food donations at the church on Sunday 22nd March morning between 8am and 1pm. A lot of people have said they cannot get anything at the supermarkets. Note that a lot of smaller shops in the high streets have biscuits, soaps, tinned or powder milk, rice and tinned meats, tinned vegetables, tinned fruits, tinned fish and tinned soups. Some still carry pastas and pasta sauces, not all places.

PANCAKE NIGHT – our 3rd year into it and once again a success. 100 tickets were issued but roughly 15-17 people didn’t turn up due to illness or last minute commitments. A big ‘Thank you’ to our main chef, Marielle Yap, who made 200 pancakes plus 1-1/2 litres of batter for our Sous Chefs (Alan Brudney, Karen Miyasaki and Rowena Ledesma) who made the rest of the pancakes in medium ad small sizes. Thank you to all the attendees who brought the fillings/toppings and to Maggie Kolecka, Rosita Stanfield, Hilary Funston and Shahnaz Alfaioli for helping to set up. Last but not the least, a big thanks to the attendees who volunteered to clear up at the end. What a wonderful lot we have!!! As our main photographer could not attend due to work, here are some photos taken by yours truly.

FOODBANK for MARCH: They have requested for tinned meats, corned beef and pies, tinned vegetables and tomatoes, UHT milk, coffee, sugar, tinned fruits, carton of juices, custard & rice puddigs, and size 5 & 6 nappies.

Shrove Tuesday is PANCAKE NIGHT, 25/2/2020, in the Parish Hall at 7:30pm. Attendees are requested to bring fillers/toppings to share. See poster in the porch and in the hall which has the food list. Tickets are free and limited and available from Jyoti before/after Sunday 10:30am Mass. This is an occasion for children to enjoy.

BAKE SALE was held by The Confirmation Group on Sunday 26/1/2020. They did a brilliant job and made £177.23 for The Cardinal Hume Centre. A big congratulations to the group.
