EASTER SUNDAY SHARED LUNCH 21/4/2019 – as usual it was a great success with plenty of food to share and music to dance to. Each year it gets better. Thank you to DJ Ron for always providing the music, to Marielle Yap for the final table setting touches and heating up the food in the kitchen. To our our volunteers, thank you for your help and especially our Filipino members for washing and drying up hundreds of dishes and glasses. Without you all, no event is possible. FIRE MARSHALS training was held in our church hall last night 4/12. As it was a Deanery event, members from other Barnet churches attended – St. Mary/East Fincly, St. Agnes/Cricklewood, St. Philip/Church End Finchley, St. Peter/New Barnet, Sacred Heart & Mary Immaculate/Mill Hill to name a few. A representative from Precision came to give us a talk, showed a PowerPoint slide show on how fires start in churches and also explained the differences between the 3 types of fire distinguishers – water, carbon dioxide and foam and the appropriate ways of using them. There was also a demonstration of how to use the fire blanket correctly. It was a very informative session. We will soon have a rota of fire marshals in our church and they can be recognised by the ‘Fire Warden’ armband they will be wearing. Below some photos from last night, courtesy of Shahnaz Alfaioli.
On 10th December we had The Divine Mercy Retreat organised together with The Divine Mercy Apostolate led by a Marian Father. Retreat was held from 11am-4pm with Praise & Worship, Enthronement of Merciful Jesus, a Talk, Holy Mass followed with an hour’s lunch break. The afternoon commenced with a talk, an hour of Divine Mercey/Benediction and finally Veneration of the Image of Merciful Jesus and Relic of St. Faustina. It was a very enlightening day!
