PASSOVER-SEDER – This will be held in our church on Wednesday 17th April 2019 at 7:15pm in the church hall. Admission by ticket only and these are limited. This event takes place every 2 years and is organised by Joan How, our RCIA Coordinator and Alan Brudney of Alyth Synagogue. This Sedar is a ritual performed generally by a community or by multiple generations of a family. In this instance, to give us a taste of the ritual, it will be performed by Alan Brudney, involving the retelling of the story of the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt. This story is in the Book of Exodus in the Hebrew Bible. The customs include telling the story, drinking 4 cups of wine, eating matza, partaking of the foods placed on the Passover-Sedar plate (6 items) in celebration of freedom. Special Passover songs are sung. For those of you who have never been to this event, it will be a great experience. For those coming, there is a food list in the church porch for your contribution towards the ceremonial food and main supper. Photos will be posted after the event.
